There were several options for compliance that were discussed which included blending, consolidation with another municipality, construction of a new well, rehab of the 62-1 well, building a water treatment plant and point of use and point of entry filters.
Miller stated that all 4 of the current City wells are at their maximum depth and for their ages are all in good condition. Costs associated with the different options for compliance were presented and ranged from $4.8 million for construction of a new well to $7.2 million for construction of a reverse osmosis plant. Miller’s recommendation was to work on renovating the current Well 62-1 located in the northeast section of town, which would cost approximately $300,000.
Smith moved to allow City Administrator Tarr to execute documents for the submittal of the Preliminary Engineering Report to the Water Wastewater Advisory Committee and Nebraska Dept.
